Rock Paper Scissors
BYU held a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament Friday afternoon. 765 people paid the $5 entry fee in hopes to win the $2,500 grand prize. Each match consisted of 3 games or 'throws.' Who ever won 2 out of 3 games advanced to the next round. A typical match lasted less than 30 seconds. BYU freshman biology major Mitch Hayashi won the grand prize after his 'paper' defeated his opponent's 'rock.'

Opening Day
It was the first game of the season for the Salt Lake Bees last night as they took on the Las Vegas 51's. (They get their name from Area 51 and have a grey alien as their mascot.) I was assigned to photograph mostly feature pictures that said 'take me out to the ball game..."
The last picture is my favorite and luckily, it ran 5 columns on the front of the sports section.

Quorum of the Seventy
While covering the LDS semiannual general conference Sunday morning, I noticed that a few members of the Quorum of the Seventy were catching a few zzz's while President Gordon B. Hinckley was speaking. I guess they thought since the lights were low on them, they could rest their eyes for a few minutes and no one would notice.
In the above picture, President Hinckley is speaking at the bottom of the frame and the massive pipe organ is in the background. The black void in the middle is where the Quorum is sitting. The lights were very dim, so I had to shoot at a 1/25th with the 600mm lens on a monopod.
