    Utes NCAA Gymnastics Championships | Features

    The Utah gymnastics team competed in the NCAA championships in Lincoln, NE last weekend. As a team, they finished in third place behind Georgia and Alabama. In the individual competition, senior Kristina Baskett finished in third place in the vault, beam and bars. Junior Daria Bijak finished in fifth place in the floor exercise.         Here are a few pictures from Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus’ surprise visit to Salt Lake City before a showing of her new movie, “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” Her visit was part of a program by Walt Disney Pictures called “Opening Weekend Surprise,” where different stars and movie talent visit unsuspecting theater audiences during the opening weekend of a show. Utah was picked for a surprise visit, because, as Cyrus put it, “it’s a place no one would suspect.”

                DaMarques Johnson

                Utah fighter DaMarques Johnson is a contestant on the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality TV show. Johnson is the Throwdown ETC welterweight champion and a former Army intelligence analyst who has been training in jiu-jitsu since 2001. He grew up in Utah and moved back after his stint in the Army a few years ago.
