XDRTB.org is an extraordinary effort to tell the story of extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) and TB through powerful photographs taken by James Nachtwey. XDR-TB, or extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis, is a new and deadly mutation of tuberculosis. Similar in creation to multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) but more extreme in its manifestation, it arises when common tuberculosis goes untreated or standard TB drugs are misused. James’ photographs represent these varying strains. Learn more about TB, MDR-TB and XDR-TB, and learn how you can take action to stop this deadly disease.
The Utah Utes pulled out an exciting victory over the Oregon State Beavers tonight winning the game 31-28. With two seconds left on the clock, Utah’s Louie Sakoda kicked the game-winning 37-yard field goal, completing Utah’s improbable comeback.
Here are a couple of pictures from my first two high school games this season. I am still a bit rusty as I found myself in the wrong position or with the wrong lens a few times, but there is still plenty of time left in the season to get better.
Yesterday, I covered the funeral for Brian P. Wood. Wood, a part-time firefighter for the Farmington Fire Department, was shot and killed by a Davis County Sheriff’s Office deputy on September 22 after a 12-hour standoff. At the request of his family, Wood’s casket was taken from the church to the cemetery on top of a Farmintgon fire truck. He is survived by his wife Liz and Son Jacob.
